I first learned of The Honorable Harvest while reading Braiding Sweetgrass, a book by Robin Wall Kimmerer, but it is in fact an ancient belief of the Native American people. This print uses the wording from Braiding Sweetgrass and reads as follows: "Know the ways of the ones who take care of you, so that you may to take care of them. Introduce yourself. Be accountable as the one who comes asking for life. Ask for permission before taking. Abide by the answer. Never take the first. Never take the last. Take only what you need. Take Only that which is given. Never take more than half. Leave some for others. Harvest in a way that minimizes harm. Use it respectfully. Never waste what you have taken. Share. Give thanks for what you have been given. Give a gift, in reciprocity for what you have taken. Sustain the ones who sustain you and the earth will last forever." This distressed print is perfect for gardeners and general lovers of the earth, as a reminder to treat our resources as special gifts.

Type set by hand using metal type and ornaments. Printed using an 1893 antique printing press on heavy Teton cardstock with yellow and copper ink.

Measures 8.5" x 11".

*This listing is for one unframed print.*

Due to the nature of letterpress printing, each print is unique. Subtle differences to the product pictured can be expected, but also add to the charm.
