Which one of us has never had the exhilarating thought that maybe we will one day discover a portal to a magical land? I certainly have, and that is probably why so many of us are enchanted by the story, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lucy represents that adventurous part of our being, and her discovery of Narnia is a wish come true for all of us. This letterpress bookmark has been completely type set by hand using metal type and ornaments. The background text depicts the moment Lucy comes across the lamp-post and reads, "She began to walk forward, crunch-crunch over the snow and through the wood toward the other light. In about ten minutes she reached it and found it was a lamp-post. As she stood looking at it, wondering why there was a lamp-post in the middle of a wood and wondering what to do next, she head a pitter patter of feet coming toward her. And soon after that a very strange person stepped out from among the trees into the light of the lamp-post."
Printed using an 1893 antique printing press on Mohawk milkweed vellum cardstock with copper, black and yellow ink.
Measures 2 1/2" x 7".
Due to the nature of letterpress printing, each bookmark is unique. Subtle differences to the product pictured can be expected, but also add to the charm.
